Spring Flowers

Spring, 2023

Spring has, in fact, sprung.

If it wasn’t obvious by the tulip festival, the growing garden, or the countless other photos… Spring is here in Oregon. No two ways about it.

Sit back, relax, and enjoy a few quick views of the Wilsonville greenery… and even some quick snaps of our resident Heron!

A growing Garden

April, 2023

I miss the garden I had at my previous house… but the past is the past. I don’t have a yard… but I do have a balcony, some planters, and the drive to let green things grow.

This year, I kept it simple. Hops, Peas, and flowers. Nothing special, nothing fancy. Minimal care, aside from watering and draping the hops across the overlook, and a lot of enjoyment and appreciation of the beauty and glory of growing things…

I’m always astounded at just how quickly some plants can grow. These hops, for example, seriously grow 3 or 4 inches a day… more, on the hot days that Wilsonville’s been having. I’m not quite a fan of 95+ degree days in April, but the hops sure as heck don’t seem to mind!

These two sets of photos were taken less than 3 weeks apart… seriously. It’s amazing!

The start of the garden of 2022!

It’s almost spring time!

The evenings are still cold, don’t get me wrong. But the days are lovely – warm, some sun breaking through the Pacific Northwest rain, and quite a full fully sunny days.

And we all know what that means, right???

Gardening!

The plan for this year is pretty similar to last year, but I’m aiming to streamline the process a little bit.

Instead of trying for tomatoes and veggies and a variety of things, I’m focusing in on peas and flowers – Pea Plants in the long planters, maybe with some hops planted nearby for shade, and then lots of flowers in small pots along the balcony. Lupin, marigolds, and sunflowers!
