Okay so I’m going to level with you, dear readers, I’m not quite sure why this statue is famous.
But here, in Brussels, there’s a water fountain with a small boy peeing. The Manneken Pis. And it is, for many reasons made more clear in the extensive Wikipedia article that I’ll link below, quite famous. It’s been stolen, returned, dressed up, dressed down… It’s a symbol of Belgium, and I fully support them.
And now, I didn’t actually see the original, it turns out – due to its small size and rather extensive history of theft the original statue is held securely in a museum, with a replica here in the original fountain for us tourists to enjoy on our evening walks.

As a secondary to this, there’s another statue – the peeing girl, or Jeanneke Pis. I checked this one out too… you know, gender equality.
