Thanksgiving in New England – A quick view of Boston

Thanksgiving! Last year, Thanksgiving was a bit too busy for me to fly back to the United States… classes, and general insanity, conspired to keep me in Dublin. Which, frankly, was a perfectly lovely time with friends and classmates. 2025, however, had none of those challenges… and thus, saw Andrea and I winging our way to New England for a well-deserved holiday…

Just a quick photo of a beautiful view of Boston. As mentioned earlier in the blog, I really do appreciate showing someone new around town… it helps me see something that I “know” with fresh eyes, and to appreciate things that I may otherwise just glaze over.

Thanksgiving in New England – Visiting the MFA

I adore the Boston Museum of Fine Art.

I went so often as a kid, and had so many little favorite spots, that it holds a special place in my heart to this day – regardless of how far away I may live. Being able to share some of that joy and excitement with Andrea was a goal for this trip, and it was a goal we successfully achieved.

We popped in on our own, wandered, and explored.

We found the model ship exhibit, Andrea saw the traveling exhibition, and goggled at the unexpected dollhouse. I adored the landscapes, and we enjoyed taking our time to explore… and to share opinions and appreciation.

Yeah. I like the MFA.

Thanksgiving in New England – Christmas Lights!

Thanksgiving! Last year, Thanksgiving was a bit too busy for me to fly back to the United States… classes, and general insanity, conspired to keep me in Dublin. Which, frankly, was a perfectly lovely time with friends and classmates. 2025, however, had none of those challenges… and thus, saw Andrea and I winging our way to New England for a well-deserved holiday…

The weekend after Thanksgiving, Saturday and Sunday, November 29th and 30th, 2026

As is tradition, Christmas lights appeared after Thanksgiving, as if by magic.

I mean, they did, right? Magic and a whole lot of time and effort on a whole lot of peoples parts!

Christmas lights are kind of normal for me, frankly. But one of my favorite parts about my relationship with Andrea is how we help each other see the things that we’re blind to – In this example, I’ve just gotten so used to Christmas lights that they don’t really register.

But, thanks to Andrea, I was able to actually look at and enjoy them all this year, instead of simply vaguely seeing past them as we drove. We even stopped and turned around for a few of these photos!
